HERSHEY KISS FOIL RECYCLABLE????

So i was browsing the web today and found something very interesting. I found out that the little Hershey Kiss foil is recyclable. Can You Believe that. I never would of thought. With all the 20,000,000 Hershey kisses made each day there is 133 square miles of aluminum foil used. That is a lot of Aluminum Foil WASTED because people did not know that it is recyclable. So the next time you open a Hershey's kiss remember to RECYCLE the Foil!

  1. This is so interesting! I've never even thought of recycling that little piece of foil, but what a difference that could make! Just thinking about the amount (and miles!) of foil that is possibly wasted and polluting the environment is disturbing. If more people knew about this simple recycling tip, I believe we could really make in impact on the world and our environment. Great job with this very interesting and shocking bit of information!

  4. I didn't realize how much foil was needed to cover hersey kisses or that it was recylable. That is very interesting information. That is soemthing people should know, especially since so many kisses are going to be eaten the next week or so from Valentine's Day. Great Job!

  6. I must say I was absolutely unaware that those foils were recyclable. I told my kids and they were suprised as well. We as many families do recycle everyweek on trash day and now if someone were to look in my tub out front on the curb they will find Hershey Kiss wrappers in our tub. Thank You for the valuable information.

  8. You have to do a little extra work to make sure they get recycled... one or two balled up foil wrappers are never going to make it as far as the recycling machines. So you should do something like ball them up and put them in an aluminum can...

  9. IDIOTIC! 20,000,000 Hershey kisses does not require ANYWHERE near 133 square miles of aluminum foil. Let's assume that each wrapper is a 5cm x 5cm square (it's actually triangular and smaller than 5cm on a side, but I'll be generous). 20,000,000 x 5cm x 5cm = 500,000,000 cm^2. Each square meter is 100cm x 100cm = 10,000 cm^2. So the total area in square meters is (500,000,000 cm^2) / (10,000 cm^2 / m^2) = 50,000 square meters. This area is equivalent to a square with a side length of 224 m. One single square mile is a square with a side length of 1,608 m. So this 224 m square is about 0.019 square miles.
