HERSHEY KISS FOIL RECYCLABLE????

So i was browsing the web today and found something very interesting. I found out that the little Hershey Kiss foil is recyclable. Can You Believe that. I never would of thought. With all the 20,000,000 Hershey kisses made each day there is 133 square miles of aluminum foil used. That is a lot of Aluminum Foil WASTED because people did not know that it is recyclable. So the next time you open a Hershey's kiss remember to RECYCLE the Foil!

Reasons to REUSE!!!

  • Reusing products keeps waste out of our landfills. (which saves taxpayers money)
  • Reusing cuts back on pollution.
  • Reusing items saves the economy from using valuable resources. (fuel, water supply, forests, etc.)
  • Reusing can help create new businesses for our struggling economy!!!
  • Reusing can also help make products more affordable for us all.
AND as if we all needed another reason to reuse products....you can always sell your unwanted reusable items for some extra cash!!! Remember: "One man's trash is another man's treasure."

Reduce

Reducing waste is one of the three major components to helping the environment. We can reduce the amount of garbage we throw away by recycling, we can reduce the amount of electricity we use by turning lights off when not in use. We can use alternative transportation such as riding bikes to places we need to go that are close.

  • The average American uses 650 pounds of paper each year – 100 million tons of wood could be saved each year if all that paper was recycled.

Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to run a TV for three hours. In spite of this, Americans throw away enough aluminum to rebuild our entire commercial fleet of airplanes every three months!

Every month Americans throw out enough glass bottles and jars to fill up a giant skyscraper (think: Empire State Building), but all of these jars are recyclable!

These were just some facts from www.dosomething.org

The ideas of reducing usage of electricity, gas, waste, are endless when creative minds care about one another and the environment. If people envision themselves as part of a bigger idea we can create a global community that is just a little bit greener.

Reduce

Reducing is one ways in the reduce, reuse, recycling idea that can make a difference in our world. One of the best ways to reduce is by reusing materials to make something new. For instance during Holidays wrapping gifts is a big waste of paper. Instead of buy wrapping paper one could use old newspapers, sheet music, anything creative to reduce the waste of paper.

I also found an exciting video about reducing, reusing, and recycling.

Recycling is the new Revolutioin

As much of a hassle as it is. Recycling is actually a good thing economically because it creates jobs and saves money. Environmentally because if you recycle it also limits the pollution in the air and lowers the landfill space used, and socially because it helps sustain the environment for future generations. We are trying to STOP the landfill from looking like this! So Please Recycle!!!

REUSE REUSE REUSE!!!

There are many ways for everybody to help the environment. One of the ways is to REUSE everyday disposable products. By reusing items such as plastic shopping bags, we can help cut down on trash buildup and keep our world clean! Another option is to "go green" and purchase canvas shopping bags at local stores to be reused so that plastic shopping bags do not have to be wasted.
